Settle In Before the Semester Starts

We are a private landlord — not Yale, and not affiliated with the university — and that is exactly why renting with us is simple. There are no housing lotteries, no eligibility windows, and no move-out deadlines that ignore your research schedule. Choose an apartment, sign a lease that matches your program — one semester, an academic year, or multi-year — and it starts when you need it, whether you arrive in August or January.

Many of our graduate students and postdocs arrive from outside the U.S. Everything is arranged remotely — the lease and payment from anywhere in the world, in any currency, with no U.S. bank account required — so you land with your suitcases and walk into a furnished apartment with the internet already live. Nothing to buy on arrival, nothing to sell when your program ends.

New Haven is built for a graduate schedule: compact and walkable, with campus and the libraries minutes away and Metro-North running from Union Station to New York. Arriving with a partner or family? Our apartments run from one to four bedrooms, with real space to live and work. Coming for a sabbatical or shorter research appointment instead? See our sabbatical housing page.

A Home, Not a Hotel Room

The perfect respite for our family of five while we moved our daughter into Yale's divinity school graduate housing.

Jennifer

Yale Divinity move-in

It's beautiful, roomy, and a lovely space to spend time in. … It's easy to get to Yale (and the Yale Divinity School is close by). I felt very safe here and slept well.

Graduate & Postdoc Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on academic-term leases, arriving from abroad, and what is included.

Is this Yale University housing?

No — we are a private landlord, not affiliated with Yale. That is exactly why renting with us is simple: no housing lotteries, no eligibility windows, and no move-out deadlines that ignore your research schedule. Just an apartment you choose, on a lease that matches your program.

Do leases follow the academic calendar?

Yes — and the length is up to you. Every lease has a defined start and end date: a few weeks for a short research visit, one semester, a full academic year, or multi-year for your entire program. It starts when you need it, whether you arrive in August or January.

I am arriving from outside the U.S. — how do I arrange housing?

Remotely, from anywhere in the world. The lease and payment are handled before you arrive — we accept payment in any currency and do not require a U.S. bank account. You land with your suitcases and the apartment is ready.

What is included in the apartment?

Furnished units come with quality furniture, a fully equipped kitchen, and linens; all units include utilities, high-speed internet, in-unit laundry, off-street parking, and space to work. One payment covers everything.

Is there a deposit, and how does payment work?

A security deposit holds the apartment for your dates. Stays of two months or less are paid in full by the start of the stay; longer stays are billed in prorated monthly installments, with the first payment due by the first day of your stay.

Is there room for a partner or family?

Yes. Our apartments range from one to four bedrooms, so a graduate student or postdoc arriving with a partner — or with kids — has real space to live and work.

Can I share with other graduate students?

Yes. Our two- to four-bedroom units work well for shares — separate bedrooms, shared common space, and one simple lease.

How close are the apartments to campus?

Our apartments are located across New Haven with easy access to the Yale campus and libraries. The city is compact — most commutes are minutes, and downtown is genuinely walkable.

Do you work with postdocs and visiting researchers?

Absolutely — graduate students, postdocs, research staff, and visiting scholars. If you are coming for a sabbatical or a shorter research appointment, our sabbatical housing page covers academic-term stays in more detail.

Where are the apartments located?

Across New Haven, with easy access to campus, downtown, and Union Station. We share specific locations and available units with your proposal.
